SPECIAL EDUCATION BEHAVIOR ROOM SELF CONTAINED TEACHER (K-5)

The Lisbon School Department is seeking a highly qualified Certified Teacher. The successful candidate will be able to participate in the development of and oversee the implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education services. It is expected that a candidates have knowledge of and are able to provide interventions that are research-based and are individualized in a manner that students with disabilities have access to adequate instruction for educational benefit. It is expected that Common Core Standards and grade level expectations are incorporated into IEPs and there is support provided to regular education teachers to modify the grade level curriculum for students eligible for special education. Candidates must be able to establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning environment while collecting and evaluating data on students’ academic, behavioral and social growth to develop appropriate learning goals and targets. In addition, the special educator is responsible for the supervision and support of educational technicians as they implement instruction. (The projected case load for the 2017-18 school year is comprised of students in grades K-5.)

REQUIREMENTS: Certification 282 Teacher- Disabled Students (K-8)

EXPERIENCE: Working with elementary students with whom learning & behaviors poses a challenge.
